Education Abroad
Are you interested in a Study Abroad experience but don’t think you can? WRONG!
Here are your first steps:
- Complete Study Abroad 101, a free, asynchronous set of modules that you can complete at your own pace. SA 101 should only take 1-2 hours in total to complete, but it will help explain our program options, financial aid, and scholarships, the advising and application process, and so much more.
- After completing Study Abroad 101, you’ll be eligible to meet with an advisor and open an application.
- From there, you will walk through the process via emails to your UNC Charlotte account, as things look a bit different depending on if you’ve selected a faculty-led, affiliate, exchange, or direct enrollment program (or even an internship!).
- The Office of Education Abroad is always available at edabroad@charlotte.edu to answer any questions you might have along the way!
Fast Facts about Education Abroad
- You can study abroad for as short of a term as Spring Break (7-10 days), or as long of a term as a full academic year; in fact, UNC Charlotte students can mix-and-match to study abroad for a maximum of three total semesters!
- Programs could end up less expensive than attending on-campus at UNC Charlotte – of course, some might be about the same cost, and some might be more expensive. Complete Study Abroad 101 and talk to an Education Abroad advisor to learn more about cost-saving measures, scholarships, and financial aid!
- You may use financial aid toward a study abroad program!
- All majors can study abroad.
- Most of our programs are taught in English, so you don’t have to worry about taking a full course load in a foreign language unless you want that language immersion.
- Transfer students absolutely can and do study abroad, but we recommend getting started with the process ASAP once you join Niner Nation.
